Child Labour - New campaign resource
'Child labour exists because we allow it to exist'
Ms. Shanta Sinha, Chair of Children's Rights Commission, India.

child labour book cover
Despite the world's promises to care for every child, the scourge of child labour still leaves countless children deprived of their most basic rights. In order to guarantee that these rights are secure, the international community must make the protection of children the first priority in countries where child labour is present. Businesses must redouble their efforts to ensure that no child labour is used in the production of any good, and above all people, wherever they may live, must make it clear that the abuse of children as child labourers has no place in this world.

This book is written for anyone interested in learning about child labour and how to take action against it.

Fly a Kite to Stop Child Labour Campaign
To mark June 12th in 2007, World Day against Child Labour, Concern's Stop Child Labour campaign is asking primary school children all over Ireland to fly a kite and help over 218 million child labourers go to school not work!

Just 7 years ago Government leaders from around the world made a promise that every child of primary school age would be enrolled in formal education by the year 2015. We are now half way to that promise and sadly the number of children working full time has barely decreased at all. According to the International Programme for the Elimination of Child Labour (IPEC) for every 6 children in the world under the age of 18, one of them is a child labourer. Concern's Stop Child Labour campaign believes that this is wrong. Every child no matter which country they come from has the right to go to school.
