Fly a Kite to Stop Child Labour!

People throughout Ireland are flying kites on June 12th to show that they want an end to Child Labour. Please join us at the Spire on O’Connell St on June 12th at 11.30am to fly our kites and release 218 balloons to symbolise the millions of children working in the world today.

Look behind the label of the things you buy-it's not only chocolate!

Shantha Sinha, the Chairman of the Children’s Rights Commission in India says that everything you eat, are sheltered by and wear in India-somewhere along the way a child labourer is involved. In Ireland, this is less likely but we still need companies to reassure us that they are not using child labour. Check out where your purchases come from by looking behind the label and asking questions of your retailers. "Tiny Pickers International" produce
Chocolate, Cotton & Coffee.

Buy ethical products

Surprisingly enough there are tons of ethical products available out there that almost always guarantee no child labour-you just have to look a bit closer behind the label... Here’s a list of websites that can help you find ethical products (mostly threads!)

High Street Shops in Ireland stocking Fair Trade

  • Marks and Spencers(Fair trade cotton clothing range and selection of fair trade food)
  • Dunnes Stores (fair trade food and drink range)

  • Tesco (fair trade food and drink range)

Fair Trade guarantees producers a good & fair price for their goods. Most Fair Trade Co-ops also ensure no child labour is used but even if they don’t, with extra profit, it allows producers to do things like send their children to school.
